Folsom, CA | April 21, 2026 — In an announcement made at Hannover Messe this week, Inductive Automation officially welcomed Tiger Data (creators of TimescaleDB) into the Ignition Technology Ecosystem Program as its newest Gold Technology Provider. This collaboration brings together the unlimited potential of the Ignition platform with the high-performance time-series database capabilities of TimescaleDB Enterprise and Tiger Cloud, empowering industrial organizations to seamlessly manage massive data workloads from the edge to the cloud.
The Ignition community has long championed open standards, successfully pairing TimescaleDB with Ignition since 2019 to handle massive tag history loads. By officially elevating Tiger Data to Gold Technology Provider status, Inductive Automation is validating a proven collaboration between Ignition and TimescaleDB. This collaboration makes it easier for enterprises to deploy scalable, robust historian solutions that break down traditional data silos while maintaining full SQL-native access to their operational data.
"We built Ignition on the belief that industrial software should be open and accessible, from the edge to the enterprise. Tiger Data shares that belief for the data layer," said Colby Clegg, Chief Executive Officer of Inductive Automation and co-creator of Ignition. "Our users run facilities that generate millions of data points a day. They need time-series performance at that scale, full SQL access to their data, and the ability to connect what happens at one site to what's happening across the business. This collaboration makes that possible."
This alignment is echoed by Tiger Data, creators of the newly launched TimescaleDB Enterprise for edge deployment and Tiger Cloud (managed TimescaleDB) for centralized analytics.
"Industrial data doesn't stop at the plant gate, and neither should the infrastructure that manages it," said Mike Freedman, co-founder and chief technology officer of Tiger Data. "This collaboration connects three critical layers of industrial data for a modern end-to-end solution. Ignition is where data is first collected for thousands of industrial operations worldwide. TimescaleDB Enterprise gives organizations a SQL-native database at each industrial site, providing scale and performance yet with local control. And Tiger Cloud brings that data together across every facility for enterprise-wide visibility and analytics."
As a Gold Technology Provider, Tiger Data will work with Inductive Automation to release joint technical content, deployment guides, and best-practice documentation to support the community's rapidly growing time-series workloads Looking ahead, the two companies are actively collaborating on new ways to further evolve industrial historian architectures, with more details on joint technical initiatives to be announced at the 2026 Ignition Community Conference in September.
